Linderella's Class Policies
How do I sign up for a class? You may register for any class either by: 1) stopping into the store, or 2) calling us at (910)215-5981, or 3) registering online on our Classes page. We ask that you kindly pay for the class fee in full at the time of registration to secure your spot in the class. We gladly accept payment in cash, check or credit card.
Does my Class Fee include supplies & materials? Generally unless specified otherwise on the class schedule, class fees DO NOT include materials, supplies or patterns required to make the project. However, you will receive a class supply list and precutting instructions at the time of registration or by email shortly after that. In order to continue to provide you with fun and informative classes, we would kindly appreciate your consideration of and patronage to Linderella’s when purchasing your supplies.
What if a class is already full? Our classes are considered full when (6) students sign up for the class. If a class is already full, you may request to be placed on the waiting list. If a spot opens up, we will call or email you asap.
What if I sign up and pay, then need to cancel? We prefer to make a commitment to our teachers at least 7 days in advance to the class. If you do need to cancel and give us at least a 7 day notice, we will be happy to refund your class fee (sorry - any materials or patterns bought for the class cannot be refunded or returned). You may choose to have your refund in the form of a store gift card or back in the form of your original payment.
What if not enough people sign up for the class or it needs to be cancelled? Let’s face it - classes are much more fun when there are more students present than just the teacher.....meaning that most of our teachers would prefer to have at least 2-3 students in the class to teach it. If we do need to cancel the class due to low enrollment, we will refund the class fee in full to those who have registered and paid. Again we normally make this decision one week prior to the class, and will notify you asap.
How much sewing experience do I really need to have to take a beginning class? No quilting experience is necessary to take any of our beginning classes. However, we do ask that your machine is in good working order, and that you have a working knowledge of your own machine, and (as silly as it sounds) that you know how to turn it on, thread it, change the needle, wind a bobbin, correct your tension and sew a seam in a relatively straight line. Additionally, bringing your sewing machine manual to class is always very helpful in case you get into a “pinch”.
What if I need help precutting my materials or am confused when preparing my materials for class? No worries - we are here to help.....Precutting is an important part of preparing for your class and also allows you to start learning right away without having to spend valuable class time cutting your materials. Most of our classes and the time allotted are scheduled assuming that all the materials are either precut or prepared prior to the start of class. If you do need assistance precutting your materials or have questions, we ask that you call the shop to arrange a “cutting appointment” with Linda or Carl at least 3-5 days in advance of your class. We will then set an appointment for you to come on in the shop prior to class to assist you with your preparation so you’ll be ready to start sewing the day of class.
Will I complete the project in class? Our teachers strive to create classes that have projects that are “achievable” in the class time allotted. It is our goal that students will not only learn the basic techniques of the class project but will indeed finish it by the end of class. However, because each student sews at a different rate and comes to class with a different knowledge base, completion times for projects will vary and there may be times when a few more steps in the privacy of your own home are all that are needed to complete the project at hand.
Can I bring my children to class or can my children take the classes? To be fair to our other students and to our teachers, we do not allow children to be present during class unless the class specifically “includes” children. If a class specifies “Kids Sewing:”, we ask that the child be over 10 years of age, and have some sort of beginning sewing or home economic experience and a working knowledge of how to use a sewing machine, an iron and scissors or rotary cutters.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to call Carl or Linda at (910)215-5981.
